Lip Blush Tattooing

By Montana Inez

natural blushed lips,
all year ‘round

The most natural technique in lip tattooing and fully customisable — Lip Blush brings a flush of colour and definition to lips, with seriously low maintenance.

Also be beneficial for those with:
scarring, naturally uneven lip shapes or pigment, as well as hyper/hypo pigmentation or pigment loss.

A customised colour is created, based on your skin’s natural undertones, existing lip colour and desired outcome, and can be matched to a lipstick/pencil/gloss.

Whether you desire to enhance your natural lips, add definition to lips with filler or pigment loss, or rid the need to top up on filler or makeup regularly — Lip Blush is the thing you didn’t you know you wanted (needed)

— good-to-know —

  • 2 initial sessions, spaced 6-12 weeks apart.
Cosmetic tattoos follow a two-step process and the approach of “we can always add more, but we cannot take away”, when it comes to working on delicate features.
Touch-up sessions are beneficial for layering pigment and building up the results. Both colour and shape can be adjusted as desired.

  • Maintenance & Colour Refresh sessions:
Cosmetic tattoos are semi permanent and designed to soften and fade over 1-5 years. Maintenance sessions are recommended every 1-2, sometimes even 4-5+ years after the initial (two) sessions are completed. This will vary based on your chosen colour, style and aftercare.

  • COLOURS:
Bring along your go-to lip products
and any inspiration/reference photos of looks you like. This gives us a starting point to build from and helps to ensure best results are achieved!

  • COLD SORES / HSV (Herpes Simplex Virus):
If you have ever experienced cold sores, it is recommended to take anti-viral preventive medication on the day of, 1 day prior to receiving Lip Blush. Not doing so can risk an outbreak that may affect the healed result. Please consult your gp/pharmacist for official info before taking any medication.

— before & after care —

-BEFORE CARE :

  • COLD SORES / HSV (Herpes Simplex Virus)
If you have experienced cold sores, it is recommended to take anti-viral preventive medication on the day of, 1 day prior to receiving Lip Blush. Not doing so can risk an outbreak that may affect the healed result. Please consult your gp/pharmacist for official info before taking any medication.

  • LIP FILLER must be done a minimum of 4 weeks before or 4 weeks after Lip Blush.

  • PLEASE AVOID: Caffeine, energy drinks + alcohol before your tattoo session.
To prevent excess bleeding, bruising and sensitivity. All of the above is fine afterwards.

  • AVOID: tanning/all facials/lasers/chemical peels 10 days before Lip Blush and 4 weeks after.

  • Refrain from medication that causes blood thinning, including but not limited to: Aspirin, Advil, Aleve, Niacin, Fish Oil, Vitamin E, and Ibuprofen. Consult your doctor before stopping any medication.

  • Start collecting ideas or reference of colours you like!

-AFTER CARE :

Immediately after your session:
Brighter, bolder, warmer colour/slight swelling are 100% normal and are to be expected as part of the initial stages of healing a new tattoo, particularly on the mouth. This intensity will settle within 3-5 days post session.
The vibrancy of your lip blush tattoo will fade approximately 40-50% once healed, from how you leave your appointment, revealing a soft and natural blushed shade once healed. Full healing time is 6 weeks.

  • The sensation can be comparable to a light sunburn. Minimal-mild flaking will take place around day 2-3.
DO NOT PICK AT YOUR LIPS! Refrain from removing the flakes as you risk of removing pigment in the process.

  • It is highly important to keep your lips adequately hydrated during the first few days, use only the provided balm with a cotton tip or sanitised hands as regularly as needed, being careful not to over or under do it. Remember to keep yourself hydrated with plenty of water too!

  • Avoid smoking for 2-4 days

  • Avoid hot/spicy/salty foods for 48 hours post tattoo

  • Avoid swimming/tanning of any kind/teeth whitening/rubbing or picking/smoking/cosmetic products on unhealed lips.

  • Kissing people and pets should be totally avoided while healing to prevent infection and loss of colour.

-LONG TERM CARE :

  • Keep your lips hydrated and moisturised for best results and to keep your colour looking vibrant

  • Avoid laser treatments near your tattoo

  • Skin in the centre of the lips is the thinnest with the highest cell turnover and will usually begin to lighten first due to natural exfoliation.

  • Lip filler can disperse the colour saturation and make the overall result appear lighter (similar to a balloon being blown up).

  • Touch ups/Colour boost are recommended 1-3 years after initial sessions.

  • SPF and sun protection are a tattoos best friend for longevity!
